GARANT, Lawrence “Larry” Garant
May 13, 1939 - July 29, 2025
Passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family on July 29, 2025, at the age of 86. Reunited with his beloved wife of 54 years, Beverly Joan (nee Kearns), and son Christopher (Debbie), both of whom he missed immensely. Devoted father of Mark (Joanne), Paul (Jackie), and Patrick (Luanne). Predeceased by his parents, Nelson and Zella Garant, and brother of the late Clarence (late Margaret), the late Edward (late Shirley) and his sister Shirley (Mickey). Larry lost his mother at the tender age of five, but was blessed with a loving, remarkable stepmother, Marie, and two wonderful sisters, Dianne and Elaine. Larry is survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Larry was a graduate of Corpus Christi and Commerce Business School in Windsor. From there, he forged a career as a very knowledgeable purchasing agent with GG McKeogh, Spartan Industrial and Industrial Tools Inc., developing many close, long-time customers and friends. Larry also established many friendships as a baseball coach and umpire with Windsor West Little League, but an even closer friendship with his next-door neighbor, the late Roland Madore (Nancy) and Glenn Collard.
With the help of his wife Bev, he spent many years entertaining and/or traveling with members of the Madore, Laframboise and Ostrander families and his Thursday afternoon lunch gang, in addition to the many people he and his wife met throughout the years. Larry was a quiet man who enjoyed the simple pleasures that he and his wife Bev afforded themselves: golfing and making the most of the backyard pool, but he loved playing sports!
Unfortunately, after the loss of his wife, Bev, and with the onset of challenging health issues, Larry was forced to adapt to a new lifestyle. Yet, he still managed to keep his witty sense of humor and form new friendships. Our family would like to extend our deepest thanks and profound gratitude to Mrs. Debbie Leclair, who made every day bright when she arrived to care for our dad, as did the many PSW’s and nurses from Assisted Living of Southwest Ontario (ALSO), who offered him the greatest, loving care. Special thanks to Dr. Joseph Vicelli and his staff, as well as the doctors, nurses and staff of the Hospice Care Team.
Donations can be made to the Hospice of Windsor and Es County. At Larry’s request, cremation has taken place. Family and friends are invited to meet directly at Heavenly Rest Cemetery (5005 Howard Ave.) on Thursday, August 7, 2025, at 10:00 am for a Graveside Service. Funeral Arrangements entrusted to Windsor Chapel Funeral Home – Central Chapel (519-253-7234)
