GATEMAN, Wendy Gateman

After a short and courageous battle with cancer, Wendy Margaret (nee Baines) Gateman of Hanover slipped away, with family by her side, on Sunday, March 8, 2026, at Jessica’s House Hospice, Exeter, at age 71. Beloved wife to Ross Gateman of Hanover, and cherished mother to Reanne (Dan) Marchioni and Ryan (Katie) Gateman. Wendy will be dearly missed by her 6 grandchildren Roman, Penny, Josie and Lachlan Marchioni, along with Jaxon and Landon Gateman. She will be lovingly remembered by her brother Grant (Mardi) Baines along with their children Jessica (Tom) and Andrew (Sandra), as well as her close cousin Barbara O’Cleirigh along with her children, Michael (Xi), Ciaran (Michelle), Maureen (Jon), and many friends and family members.

Predeceased by her parents Gordon and Hazel (nee Le Cras) Baines, and honorary brother-in-law Padraig “Pat” O’Cleirigh.

Above all else, Wendy was an independent and adventurous spirit, who always prioritized the well-being of others. She was a staple in her community, owning her own business, Partners Physiotherapy Service, for 30 years, where she endeavoured to ensure high quality care was always accessible to those who needed it. When she was not busy providing physio, she could be found making memories with her treasured family and friends, reading or learning about a new topic, or helping to serve her community.

A Celebration of Life for Wendy will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 15, 2026, at Knights of Columbus Hall, Walkerton. A short service of remembrance will be held at 1:30 p.m. lead by Wendy’s dear friend Rev. Connie Giroux, with a social to follow.
