Doreen passed away surrounded by her family on Tuesday, May the 6th, at the Ajax Pickering Hospital.

Doreen was born in Picton on the 28th of February,1946 to Clifford (Kippy) and Pauline McCalpin. Doreen met Bob at Prince Edward Collegiate Institute and they were high school sweethearts who parted ways when she left for Peterborough to attend Teachers College. Destiny intervened a couple of years later; when Bob, attending school at Ryerson, got on a Leaside bus to find Doreen sitting there. It turned out they were boarding within 10 minutes of each other. It was meant to be. Marriage, two children, world travel and a career in teaching followed, always surrounded by a great group of friends.

Doreen is lovingly remembered by her husband of 56 years, Bob Gayton, daughter Sarah Sweeney, daughter in law Emma Gayton, grandchildren Jacob Gayton and Quinn Sweeney, sister Debby McCalpin (Phil Craig), brother Dave DeMille (Vilma). Predeceased by her son Jeffrey Gayton.
