SHERRER, Gerard Sylvester   –  It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Gerard Sylvester Sherrer, at Southlake Regional Hospital, early Monday morning, November 13, 2023.

Son of predeceased Joseph and Evelyn. Brother to Joseph and Fred Sherrer (both predeceased).

He is survived by his loving wife, Emma Sherrer; son, George (Maria); son, Brian (Sandra); and his grandchildren, Melissa, Nicholas, Sophia, Chloe and Stella.

He will be remembered as a deeply religious “Man for All Seasons,” a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend.

He enjoyed camping, cruising, cottaging, golfing (2 holes in one) and a good scotch.

He loved the Leafs so much he couldn’t watch the games.

As a consummate educator from his time at Senator O’Connor High School through to his years at De La Salle Oaklands College, he delivered wisdom to many students. He studied Spanish classes and Slovenian well into his retirement.

He will be celebrated at a Funeral Mass at St. Elizabeth Seaton Parish, 17955 Leslie St., Newmarket, on Saturday, November 25, 2023, at 11:00 a.m., followed by a brief reception.

If desired, memorial donations can be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society.
