GILLESPIE, Sean Michael Gillespie

Passed away after a courageous battle with T-PLL, a form of leukemia, on Wednesday, June 18th, 2025, at the age of 59. Devoted husband of Shelley and cherished father of Jillian and Emily. Sean will be lovingly remembered by his parents, Brian and Judy Gillespie; in-laws Alfred and Judy; siblings Geoff (Kim) and Tim; in-laws Ted (Marnie) and Kristie; and nieces and nephews Ethan, Olivia, Cooper, Easton (d. 2023), Tytan, Reid, Georgia, Spencer, and Chloe.

Sean loved hockey, playing since age five, later coaching and refereeing for over 15 years. He was known as “Mr. Excitement” on the racetrack, beginning with Enduros at Humberstone Speedway and racing at Perry Speedway and in IMCA Modifieds, winning multiple championships and awards.

A proud member of the Welland County Motorcycle Club since 2014, Sean served as secretary, race director, and president for an unprecedented six years. He was known for his hands-on leadership, tireless efforts around the track, and unwavering commitment to others.

Sean had many passions—camping at Allegany State Park with his girls, motorcycles, cooking (especially his famous New York-style cheesecake), classic films, and sports. He was a natural conversationalist, creative, generous, and always willing to lend a hand.

Above all, Sean was a devoted family man who put others before himself, leaving a legacy of love, laughter, and endless stories.
