GILLETT , Blain Lloyd Gillett
June 5, 1941 - August 3, 2025
On August 3, 2025, with immeasurable sadness, our family had to say our final goodbyes to a very special man – our husband, father, father-in-law, papa, great grandfather, brother, uncle great uncle and friend.
Blain is survived by Heather (Walker), his wife of 60 years, his children Robert (Jenifer), Heather-Kay (Steven) and Scott (Kayde). He is also survived by his grandchildren Kayla, Devin (Alyssa), Kate, Addison and great-grandson Oliver. He will be missed by numerous nieces and nephews.
Blain was born on June 5, 1941 in Englehart to the late Lloyd Gillett and Ruth Ellen (Wood). He was a resident of Swastika most of his life. He grew up in Swastika with his siblings Ross (late Diann), Joan (late Donald) and David.
Blain was a hard worker—steady, reliable and dedicated. He excelled as a carpenter with no project being too big or too small. He constantly looked for an easier or better way of completing the task and would invent something unique that would achieve these goals.
Blain carried with him a great sense of humour that could lighten any room and he could bring a smile even in the toughest moments. He loved to laugh with family and friends, his wit was sharp, and his kindness ran deep. He thoroughly enjoyed hearing a story or telling a very tall tale, especially over a cup of tea or coffee. With either his goofy smile or his straight face, “Blaino” had a way of making people feel welcomed and valued.
We will remember his humour and his wisdom, but we will miss his presence most of all. However, we will always carry his spirit within us. He leaves a legacy of love, strength and resilience that we’ll honour daily. Our sincere thanks to everyone who has supported us throughout this difficult journey.
