CELETTI, Giovanni – Peacefully on Wednesday October 7, 2015 at the St Catharines General Hospital at the age of 86 years.

Beloved husband to Maria for 60 years. Loving father to Vince (Krystyna) and Anna Giacomino. Cherished Nonno to Brittany (Paul), Amanda, and Victoria, and Daniel.

Adored brother of Maria Di Leo; brothers-in-law Orazio, Antonio (Caterina); and sisters-in-law Pasqualina (Rocco) Di Pietro, Angelina (Vincenzo) Salierno, Assunta (Nicola) Petriello. Will be sadly missed by his many nieces, nephews, and fondly remembered by his nephew Mike Di Leo.

Predeceased by his parents Vincenzo and Anna Maria (nee Di Matteo), Maria’s parents Gaetana and Giuseppe, brother-in-law Alessandro Di Leo (1970), Francesco (Filomena), son-in-law Rocco Giacomino (2014), and sister-in-law Maria (2015).

Giovanni came to Canada in 1967 to begin a new life for his family. He worked at Port Weller Dry Docks for 15 years following his time at Burnstein Brick.

During his retirement, his daily routine included going to the Italian Cafe to visit with friends. In his spare time he enjoyed tending to his vegetable garden and perfecting his wine making. Family was a very special and important part of his life and Sunday dinners will never be the same without our Nonno.

Family will receive friends at the George Darte Funeral Home, 585 Carlton Street, St. Catharines, Ontario on Monday 2-4 and 7-9pm. Vigil prayers held in the funeral home at 3:30 pm.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Alfred’s Church, 272 Vine Street, on Tuesday at 9:30 am. Entombment will follow .

Memorial donations may be made to Hospice Niagara in Giovanni’s honour.
