LOCKYER, Gloria (nee GORASSI) – Passed away on January 20, 2024, surrounded by her family.
Gloria was born in Toronto on May 20, 1930 to Louis Gorassi and Teresa D’Amato.
Oldest sister to Mary Lou, Rosalie, Louis, and Robert.
Gloria married Albert Lockyer in 1954 and, in over sixty-nine years together, they travelled the globe, made countless friends, and shared a lifetime of fantastic meals.
They welcomed to this world their son, Louis, who Gloria now joins in the next world, and their daughter, Lori, who with Albert, misses her deeply.
Gloria took pride in, and made enduring friendships through, her 72-year working life that started in her aunts’ grocery stores on Elm St. and concluded with her retirement from Daniels Financial Corporation. She loved cooking, gardening, shopping, and excursions to the casino.
Gloria will be missed by her many family members and friends, especially Kathy, Diana and Hugh, and son-in-law, John.
The spark in Gloria’s life was her grandchildren, Michael and Sierra, and Jonathan and Victoria, and her great-granddaughters, Georgina, and Elouise and Merrill, who will greatly miss their Nan.
Many thanks to the first responders, doctors and nurses at Scarborough General Hospital who cared for Gloria with such respect and kindness.
We will honour Gloria’s life at Pine Hills Cemetery and Funeral Centre, 625 Birchmount Road, Toronto. Sunday, January 28th, Visitation 3-5 p.m. Monday, January 29th, Visitation 1-2 p.m. – Funeral 2 p.m.
