Anne was born in Aberdeen, Scotland on March 18th, 1955. At the age of 6 months, she moved with her parents to Jamaica where she spent a wonderful childhood hiking and bird watching in the mountains and swimming over coral reefs.

Anne earned a degree in Bio Chemistry from the University of Aberdeen Scotland and a PhD from the University of Cambridge England. She completed post-doctoral work in Oxford England. In 1984 Anne moved to Canada where she spent 40 years working in the medical research field with a focus on medical imaging tools to improve the detection and treatment of cancer. Most recently Anne was Chief Regulatory Officer at The Center for Probe Development and Commercialization located on the McMaster University campus.

Anne was diagnosed with Stage 3c High Grade Serious ovarian cancer in May 2022. Since her diagnosis, Anne became an active member of Ovarian Cancer Canada Patient Partners in Research, working with researchers to review grant applications and share her patient experiences. This work was very important to Anne and gave her a positive focus in the face of a terrible disease.

Apart from her busy career, Anne’s passions included hiking, bird watching and native plant gardening. She won a Monarch award for ecological gardening excellence for her beautiful native pollinator garden that attracted countless butterflies and birds.

Anne had many amazing friends, and her family would like to thank all of you for the love and support you have given to Anne. Your visits, calls and messages meant the world to us. We would especially like to thank the staff and volunteers at Margaret’s Place Hospice in Dundas for the care and compassion you gave to Anne and her family in her final days.
