GOODYEAR, Holly Lillian Goodyear (née Rowsell)

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, Holly Goodyear, on March 15, 2025, in Almonte, Ontario, at the age of 96.

Holly is survived by her daughter Julia McNaughton, her son Andrew Goodyear (Elisabeth Henry), her grandchildren, Jennifer McNaughton, Cameron McNaughton (Zoe Bevan), Tabatha Goodyear (Jordan Donegan), Raymond Goodyear, her cousins Linda Munro Hunter, William D Munro, Wayne Rowsell (and their families), her best friend Patricia Green, and honourary family, Moya Brakele and James Henderson.

She is predeceased by her loving husband, Raymond Hedley Goodyear, her brother Godfrey Rowsell (Laura), son-in-law Gerry McNaughton and her parents, Georgina Munro Rowsell Howe and Abram Rowsell.

Born in St. John’s, Newfoundland and raised in Buchans and Grand Falls, Mom immigrated (with Dad) to Canada in 1948 (when Newfoundland was still a British Colony). They settled in Toronto, Mississauga, Hanover and various small towns in the Ottawa Valley, finally retiring in Renfrew.

In the late 1990s, Holly was well known to the Calabogie Senior’s Association where she directed plays and skits for the community. Her love of music filled her life; she was an active choir member in Mississauga and known for her beautiful soprano voice. She was also a passionate gardener and lifelong learner with a deep love of reading.

Mom will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Andrew & Julia would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Orchard View Gardens for their care and compassion. Thank you for letting Mom into your hearts.

Holly’s final care has been entrusted to Zohr Family Funeral Home, Renfrew, where a Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 19, 2025 from 1:00pm to 3:00pm. A private family interment will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery, Calabogie.

In lieu of flowers, donations to either the Renfrew Public Library or the Renfrew Victoria Hospital would be appreciated by the family.
