SUTHERLAND, Gordon Alexander Obituary
SUTHERLAND, Gordon Alexander – Completed his journey in life peacefully at Chester Village long term care facility in Toronto on December 21, 2015, he was 92.
He was the loving husband to Marjorie and father to David Sutherland and Anne (Sutherland) Queen. He was the proud grandfather to Sarah Queen.
Gordon is survived by his sister Betty Bryson and predeceased by his half-brother Frank Stevens, his sisters Elaine Utting and Shirley Sutherland, and by his brother Robert (Bob) Sutherland. Gordon was the eldest in the family of the late Donald and Harriet Sutherland.
Gordon was born in Woodstock on March 27, 1923.
In 1942, he served in WWII by enlisting with the RCAF. For his service, Gordon was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross. He worked as a foreman at Fisher Controls in Woodstock for 25 years. Gordon loved to walk and in his retirement, would make a daily routine of walking around Woodstock. He also enjoyed road trips to go hiking with Marjorie along the Bruce Trail.
A memorial service to celebrate Gordon’s life will be held at Brock and Visser Funeral home, 845 Devonshire Ave., Woodstock at a later date, followed by interment at the Anglican Cemetery, Vansittart Ave, Woodstock.
