GOUGH, Rose Marie Gough
May 22, 1935 - December 17, 2025
Passed away with family around her on December 17, 2025.
Predeceased by her parents John and Lillian Dunn; sister Belle; and ex-husband David Gough; as well as numerous friends and relatives. She is survived by 2 older sisters and 4 adult children and their families.
Rose spent the later years of her life in West Kelowna, and the past year and a half at Cottonwood Care Home, where she was treated with respect, love, and dignity.
She was the devoted mother of four children, a proud grandmother to six grandchildren, and a great-grandmother to ten great-grandchildren. Her family was at the very centre of her life, and she cared for her children deeply, always with fierce love, loyalty, and a watchful eye.
Rose had a lifelong love of animals and a personality that could best be described as kind, feisty, and wonderfully funny — especially when she decided it was time to be. She made friends easily, loved to dance, and as a teen, played the banjo in a band with her older sisters. She had a sharp mind and was remarkably good with numbers, a talent she carried with confidence and ease.
She gave her children a childhood filled with unforgettable memories: annual camping trips to Osoyoos where aunts, uncles, cousins, and grandparents gathered together; comforting Sunday roast beef dinners that brought everyone to the table; and countless everyday moments that became the foundation of a loving family life. She coached her daughters’ softball team, often taking the team to Dairy Queen after a game, whether it was won or lost.
After her divorce, she worked hard to provide for the two sons that were still in her care, working at many different jobs, even opening and managing a Mexican restaurant.
Rose will be remembered for her strength, her humour, and her generosity of spirit. Her legacy lives on in the many lives she touched and in the family who will carry her memory forward with gratitude and affection.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Details to be announced.
