GOWERS , Roy Allen Gowers
July 10, 1952 - August 11, 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Roy Allen Gowers, aged 73. Roy passed peacefully, surrounded by family, at Victoria Hospital in London, Ontario.
He is survived by his loving wife, Susan Gowers; his son Matthew Fowler-Gowers (Jasinda); daughter Sarah Cannon (Ryan); brothers Dave Gowers (Mary) and Kevin Gowers; mother-in-law Frances Smaill; brothers-in-law Keith Lang (Joni) and Jim Smaill (Jan); sister-in-law Barb Brown (Doug); and his best friend Dave Walker. Roy will also be deeply missed by many nieces and nephews, extended family, and friends.
Roy was predeceased by his parents, Winnifred and Walter Gowers; sister Linda Lang; father-in-law Gordan Smaill; brother-in-law Doug Smaill; and nephew Wade Gowers.
Roy was a proud retiree of Meridian Lightweight Technologies in Strathroy, Ontario, where he dedicated many years and built lasting friendships. Outside of work, he spent countless hours riding with his wife and close friends Keith and Dave.
Though quiet by nature, Roy’s presence spoke volumes. He was a devoted husband, father, and a loving “pawpaw” to many cherished pets. His deep affection for dogs was evident throughout his life. His family will forever remember his gentle guidance, unwavering support, and the joyful memories they shared—traveling out east, into the States, out west, and under the Sarnia Bridge for French fries.
Roy’s passing leaves a hole in the hearts of his loved ones that can never be filled, but they find comfort in the memories and lessons he shared. The family is grateful to have spent his final moments with him, sharing in his faith and love for Jesus, and holding onto the hope of being reunited in heaven. Always in their hearts, never forgotten.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on August 20, 2025, at Bethel Baptist Church, 264 Princess St., Strathroy, Ontario. The service will begin at 12:00 pm, with an hour of visitation prior and a luncheon to follow.
As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to the Critical Care Trauma Center (CCTC) at Victoria Hospital or to COM Missions to Cuba. Special thanks to the incredible care team at the CCTC, who did everything they could to support Roy in his fight to the very end.
