GRANT, Robert George Bob Grant
August 22, 2025
After a short illness, Robert (Bob) Grant in his 83rd year, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on August 22, 2025. Born in Chatham, Ontario, Bob was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and cherished friend. He is survived by his beloved wife and partner in adventure Maureen and his constant (and vocal) companion Finn. Bob deeply loved his family. His daughters Donna (Steve) and Debbie and his son Bob (Debbie) as well as his 6 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren were a continual source of pride. Survived by brothers’ Jeffrey, Daniel, Douglas, Gavin and their families. Bob was also an important and cherished part of the family of his brother-in-law Patrick Mitchell (Lynne) who miss him deeply. Predeceased by his father Walter Grant and mother Marion Rockett. Bob was a retired Sheet Metal Worker in London and although he enjoyed his job and especially the people he worked with, he always looked forward to the weekend when he could do what he really enjoyed…spending time doing “fun” things. Bob, Maureen, and Finn were a team always looking for the next adventure. Bob was an avid hang glider pilot and regularly travelled to meet up with friends who shared his love of flying. He would launch from a cliff or be towed by a boat until he was airborne and soar for hours…what peace. As with all of us, age and health issues made it more difficult and even impossible to continue some activities like wind surfing and roller blading, but Bob never complained. He looked around to see what he could do next and was able to continue to jet ski, bike, barefoot water ski and kayak right up to his recent hospitalization. He learned to play the ukulele late in life and absolutely loved it, regularly meeting with a group of fellow enthusiasts to play. He also found satisfaction in making videos of these activities which he often posted online. www.skydogsports.com Cremation has taken place and a celebration of Bob’s life will be held on Sunday September 21st at 1pm-4pm at Kiwanis Senior’s Centre, 78 Riverside Drive, London, Ontario, N6H 1B4, 519-661-5740. Expressions of sympathy can be posted online at www.ontariocremation.com and, if you wish, donations may be made in Bob’s name to the charity of your choice. Special thanks to family and friends who were instrumental in making Bob’s final days comfortable and meaningful. These would include periods of laughter and music, both singing and instruments, with many reminders of fun memories. Of course, it goes without saying that, the staff at LHSC-UH as well as those at St Joseph’s Hospice deserve unlimited hugs. Their devotion to making their patients comfortable during this difficult time is so appreciated.
