GREEN, Robert (Bob) James Green

Robert (Bob) James Green of Brockville passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 28th, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family. Born in 1936 in Kingston and raised in Brockville, Bob had just celebrated his 89th birthday, to which he humbly remarked, “I have had a good life.”

Bob was predeceased by his beloved wife Theresa (Terry) Fontaine of Cornwall. Married for nearly 60 years, they raised their family in Brockville. He is survived by his son Don Green, daughter Cheryl (John) Donovan, and cherished grand-daughters Alisha and Daron Donovan.

A passionate go-kart and stock car racer, Bob spent ten years touring tracks across eastern Ontario and northern New York State. It was trackside that he met Terry, a French-speaking woman who became the love of his life. Though they didn’t share a common language, Bob always said, “we spoke the language of love.”

After retiring from the track, Bob dedicated himself to family life and running Brockville Cleaners Ltd. Weekends were filled with camping, boating, and motorcycling. Later, their cottage on the Rideau Canal became the setting for years of cherished memories, from tubing and horseshoes to endless “puttering.”

As a grandfather, Bob embraced a new joy—building swings, pedal cart tracks, and giving playful spider tickles. His humor, warmth, and ability to find levity in any situation will be missed deeply by all who knew him.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff at the Royal Brock Retirement Home for their care and compassion.

A private family service will be held later this summer.

Memories and notes of condolence may be shared at Barclay Funeral Home, 137 Pearl St. E., Brockville.
