Surrounded by the love of his family, Heinz Reinhold Gregor passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 2, 2025, at Victoria Hospital, London in his 88th year. Beloved husband of 55 years to the late Jutta Lily Gregor (née Halbach). Devoted father to Darrell (Deb) of London and Reynold (Stacey) of Nova Scotia. Cherished Opi to grandchildren Alexander (Lara), Natalie (Cameron), Nicole, Jaimie, and Caitlin.
Heinz shared a special companionship over the past ten years with Ilona Kosa of Kitchener, whose care and kindness brought great comfort to him and his family.
Originally from Berlin, Germany, Heinz was a trained artist who left his homeland to pursue a new life in Canada, arriving in Montreal in 1959 with just $60. He soon settled in London, where he began a long career as a graphic artist at HJ Jones and Sons, and built a life full of love, community, and creativity alongside Jutta.
A talented painter, Heinz’s art reflected a wide range of styles and media. He was also a music lover, particularly of jazz and classical genres. His artistic soul was ever-present—whether reading, painting, or enjoying the sounds of his favorite composers.
Heinz was an active community member, contributing his time to the London Little Theatre, supporting the Stratford Festival, and serving on multiple condominium boards.
A memorial service will be held at Westview Funeral Home, 709 Wonderland Road North, London, on Monday, August 11, 2025 at 11:00 am. Reception and interment at Mount Pleasant Cemetery will follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Joseph’s Healthcare Foundation or the Stratford Festival.
