PYHTILA, Greta Pyhtila – Obituary

PYHTILA, Greta –   It is with deep sorrow that our family announces the passing of our dear mother and grandmother, Greta Maria Pyhtila, on Saturday, October 10, 2015, in the comfort of her home.

Born in Port Arthur in 1931, she attended local schools. Greta married the love of her life, Viljo, and together they worked in the family business.

Greta is survived by her daughter Debra Groulx (Tim), son David (Kathy Burk), grandsons Bryan DeJardine (Amanda), Zachary DeJardine, Jesse Pyhtila (Miranda) and Trevor Pyhtila. She was predeceased by her husband Viljo, daughter Gayle DeJardine, son-in-law Brian DeJardine, and parents Laimi and John Puhto.

Greta enjoyed fishing, hunting, travelling and her camp. She loved to needlepoint, paint, carve, and was an excellent cook.

Cremation has taken place, and at her request there will be no funeral.

A private graveside service will be held at a later date.

A special thank you to the doctors, nurses and staff at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre, Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, and the health care workers at her home.

We thank all friends and family who sent flowers, cards, food, visited and held our mother and grandmother in their hearts.
