GUERRA, Victoria Castro Guerra

She (known to her close family as Mercedes) was born in Lima, Peru, on December 15, 1924. From an early age, she worked hard and pursued her studies, becoming a Manual Arts teacher while raising her four children—Harold, Luis, Franklin, and Mariela. She faced life with courage and perseverance. After becoming seriously ill with leukemia, she made a remarkable recovery.
In 1996, she immigrated to Canada and bravely began a new chapter, adapting to a new country and culture with strength and grace. She became an active volunteer and shared her talents by teaching at many community centers. Victoria was widely known for her kindness and for helping people in need. She raised her children to be resilient, instilling in them compassion, determination, and the ability to keep moving forward even in difficult times.
Always willing to learn, she embraced new opportunities and remained entrepreneurial throughout her life, even when it meant starting from scratch. In May 2022, Victoria suffered a stroke and fought hard through her recovery. She was called home to God on February 24, 2026, in Bobcaygeon, Ontario, Canada. She found joy in the simple, loving things—knitting and making sweet baby hats, and cooking for family and friends.
Her love was something you could feel in what she gave, what she made, and how she cared.

She is survived by her children: Harold (Gladys), Luis (Mariola), Franklin (Martha), and Mariela. Grandchildren: Giancarlo, Renzo, Natalie, Harold, Nicole, Franklin, Eric. Great-grandchildren: Ethan, William, Daniel, Nixsen, Hudson, Ryerson, Devin, Owen. Her love, strength, and generosity will live on through her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and everyone whose life she touched.
