Morriseau GwendolynMORRISEAU, Gwendolyn  – It is with great sadness that we announce the loss of our loved one, Gwendolyn Elizabeth Morriseau (Dewey).

Gwen passed away suddenly on Sunday, December 20th, 2015 in Thunder Bay, Ontario.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Tuesday, December 29th, 2015 at the Kitchitwa Kateri Church at 1:00 pm.

Gwen was born in Williams Lake, British Columbia on April 14th, 1969 to parents Douglas Dewey and Maryanne Williams (Ackewance).

Gwen was raised in Hudson, Ontario and was cared for by loving paternal grandparents, Olive and Baldwin Dewey. Growing up, Gwen had many childhood friends who remember her best for her laughter and thoughtful ways. Gwen was a loving mother, grandmother, devoted partner, daughter, sister, auntie and friend.

Gwen’s proudest achievement in life was being a mother to her three beautiful daughters Jessyka Kangas (Morriseau), Shania Morriseau and Lindsey Morriseau. Gwen cherished time with her grandson Linkoln Morriseau-Ryynanen. Gwen also shared a special relationship with her step son, Curtis Nabigon and her son-in-law Jonathon Kangas. Gwen loved her parents dearly. Maryanne was always there supporting Gwen through her most difficult times and to celebrate special family events. Douglas shared time with Gwen either fishing or hunting as she loved the outdoors. Gwen loved camping with family, barbecues, fishing, hunting, cultural arts and craftwork, sewing, and especially cooking for her girls. Gwen was deeply loved by her family and they will miss her forever.

Gwen is predeceased by twin daughters, Heather and Sharon Dewey; common law spouse, Don Lawson; step mothers, Christina Papassay and Rena Wesley; step father Vic Williams; her maternal grandparents, Amelia Ackewance and Lawrence Ackewance; and her paternal grandparents.

Gwen is survived by her children, parents, her siblings Ted Dewey (Debbie Dewey), Amy Hardy (Micheal Hardy), Melanie Wesley (Conrad Gilles), Cory Papassay, Corena Wesley (Everette Kejick), Glenda Wesley (Les Bougone), Patrick Dewey, step sisters Priscilla Sky and Elizabeth Towegishig; the father of her surviving children, Robert Morriseau; paternal step mother Margie Skunk. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins of the Dewey and Morriseau families.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude for the very generous donation made by an anonymous donor; to Lac Seul First Nation for their contribution towards Gwen’s service; and family and friends who offered help and support during this difficult time.
