HAAS, Hans A. Hans – It is with broken hearts that we sadly announce the passing of Hans A. Haas on July 15, 2024, just 8 days after the passing of the love of his life, Ruth.

Hans was the beloved husband of Ruth for 71 years. Their devotion to each other was clearly manifested in their daily lives together.

Hans was the loving father to Edeltraud (deceased 1982), Heidi (deceased 2022), Claudia (deceased 1970), Ilona, Hans, Michael and Kristina.

Much loved father-in-law to Chester, Antonella, Kerri and Peter.

Treasured Opa to Jason, Simone, Katrina, Austin, Lukas, Daniel, Thomas, Arianna and great Opa to Georgia, Daisie May and Sophie. Hans will forever be loved and cherished by his twin sister Gretel, his sister Irmgard, and his many nieces and nephews.

Hans and Ruth were married in Germany and moved to Canada in 1956. They settled in Oshawa in 1972 and raised their large family.

Hans was educated and trained in Germany as a Millwright and joined the Millwright Union Local 2309 where he worked for 50 years. Dad also was skilled in ironworking, welding and carpentry.

Hans was proud of his German Heritage. He was always quick with a joke and loved to entertain family and friends. He loved to play the harmonica and accordion and sing German songs.

Gatherings with family and friends were always accompanied with German food, cake, good German coffee and of course beer and schnapps. He was skilled with tools and built many things.

Many of the kids’ school projects were made by Hans. Hans loved dogs and especially his German Shepherd Mollie.
Hans was widely known for his humour, huge heart, strong opinions, stubbornness, generosity and kindness.
Hans will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by all.

Thank you Mum and Dad for your incredible sacrifices throughout the years. You gave us all a wonderful life despite the heartaches and challenges that life threw at you. You did your best and raised us with strong family values. We love you and will miss you both very much.

The Haas family will meet friends at Armstrong Funeral Home located at 124 King St. E. Oshawa, ON L1H 1B6 on Mon. July 22nd from 4 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
A combined Memorial Service for both Hans and Ruth will be held on August 24th at 3:00 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses located at 1950 Wilson Rd. N. Oshawa, ON L1K 0S8.
