HACKNEY, Gladys Jean Hackney

Passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 25, 2026, at the age of 93. Beloved wife of 71 wonderful years to John “Jack” David Hackney. Cherished mother of John (Lauren), Jeff (Darlene), and Jim (Cheryl). Jean deeply loved and adored her grandchildren—Corey (Nicole), Amy (Alex), Kelly (Joel), Tyler (Gillian), and Katey—and was a proud great-grandmother to Keidance, Davis, Darcy, Emery, Annika, and the late Nori and Daisy. Jean is predeceased by her parents Harry and Blanche Stark, her sister-in-law Delores and brother-in-law Peter Graham. She is also predeceased by her siblings Harry Jr. (Shirley), Bob (Leone), Isabelle, and Bonnie (Glenn). She is survived by her brother-in-law Bob Gauthier.

Jean lived a vibrant and community minded life. She was the Queen of Red Hats Ruby Begonias of Thedford chapter. She devoted over 20 combined years as a Cub leader in both London and Sarnia and bowled for 25 years in Sarnia. Jean was also a longtime and faithful member of St. Luke’s United Church.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff at North Lambton Lodge for their compassionate care.

In Jean’s memory, donations may be made to the Arthritis Society Canada or to a charity of one’s choice.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., with formal words at 12:00 p.m., at Denning’s of Forest.
