HALLISEY, James Peter Hallisey
February 10, 1938 - November 10, 2025
It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our father, Jim Hallisey, on November 10, 2025. Born in Vancouver in 1938, Dad spent his childhood years in Lytton, BC, where he was introduced to many outdoor activities while living with his parents, Cornelius and Lorna, and siblings, Mary, Richard, and Neal, in the CP Rail station house. His family moved to Kelowna when he was 16, and he often joked that his three favourite things about Kelowna were: no wind, no wind, and no wind. Lytton was a very windy place!
He went on to attend UBC in Vancouver, where he earned his teaching degree and quickly went to work as a shop teacher in Kelowna, where he met his wife, Irene. Dad enjoyed teaching woodwork at KSS for 35 years and spent much of his free time, and retirement, fishing, hunting, and hiking in the beautiful Okanagan valley.
He was fortunate to be healthy enough to go on an annual fishing trip to Bamfield with his brother Neal, well into his 70s, and preferred a quiet lake or hike up a local mountain to travelling too far from home. Dad also enjoyed working around the yard, building things in his workshop, and relaxing on the porch at the home he shared with his family for 55 years.
Jim will be deeply missed by his wife Irene, his sister Mary, his children Kathryn and James (Eva), his granddaughter Laura, and all of his extended family and friends.
He had a long, happy life and his kind, helpful nature will be remembered and missed by everyone who knew him.
A family celebration of Jim’s life will be held at a later date.
