HALUSKA, Mary Louise Haluska

Lovingly known to all as β€œGMA,” passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 8, 2026, with her devoted son and granddaughter by her side. Just days earlier, she had celebrated her 95th birthday, a milestone she was so proud to reach.

Mary was the beloved wife of the late John Haluska and a proud and loving mother to Lynn, Bob (Joanne), and her β€œAmerican son,” Danny.

She was the very best GMA to Ryan (Amanda) and Lindsie, and a cherished great-grandma to Carson and Hollis.

She will be deeply missed by family and friends near and far, especially her loved ones in Slovakia.

Honouring her wishes, Mary remained at home until her final days, surrounded by love, comfort, and her faithful fur babies, Gibson and Zoey.

Mary loved to travel, play cards with her friends, listen to her favourite music, hunt for a good bargain, and share a cup of tea with a good conversation. Those who knew her best will remember her quick wit, her sass, and the unmistakable spark she brought to every room. Strong-willed, determined, and blessed with a knack for calling it like it is, Mary knew exactly what she wanted and faced life with grit and humour. Fiercely devoted to her family, she was the steady heart of the home and someone you could always count on, no matter what.

She will be remembered as incredibly kind, loving, and resilient, a woman whose thoughtfulness, strength, and unwavering devotion touched the lives of everyone lucky enough to know her. She made life fuller, louder, and better simply by being in it.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to β€œher girls,” who cared for Mary with endless devotion over the years, and to the compassionate staff at Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre, whose care and kindness brought comfort and dignity to Mary and her family during her final days.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Mary’s memory may be made to theΒ Alzheimer Society of Canada. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date, where family and friends will gather to share stories, laughter, and the love she gave so freely.

How lucky we are to have loved someone so much that saying goodbye is this hard.
