GARTHSON, Harold “Harry’   –  Passed away peacefully, in his 105th year, on June 19, 2023, at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre in Toronto, Ontario.

Harry was born on August 31, 1918, the youngest of 5 sons born to John and Rebecca Garthson.

Harry proudly served in the Royal Canadian Airforce as a Bomber Squad Paratrooper during WWII.

Harry’s service in the RCAF led him to become a lifelong, very involved member of the Royal Canadian Legion.

Upon his discharge from the Airforce, Harry began a long and successful career as a buyer for the T Eaton Company until his retirement. Retirement allowed Harry to pursue his passions even more, particularly dancing.

Above all else Harry was a devoted family man. Married to his wife, and dancing partner, Mary, for 63 years until her death in 2006. Sadly, Harry was also predeceased by his loving son, Wayne (June 30, 2022). Harry was the loving father of 3 sons: John (Rita), Steven (Tracy), and Wayne (Doreen).

Cherished grandfather of Amanda (Brian), Andrea (Sheldon), Matthew (Brittany), Ryan (Leanne), Jennifer (Neil), Amy (Isaac), Erin, and Khalen (Jordan). Great-grandfather of Caitlin (Luke), Ben, Emma, Ellis (Shaylee), Sarah, Nicholas, Emma, Rebecca, Miguel, Aiden, Harry, and Violet.

Great-great-grandfather of Henry. Harry will be greatly missed by his loving family and friends.

The family would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the wonderful caregivers at Sunnybrook K and L Wings who took such good care of our dad in his final years. The family will be holding a private funeral for Harry. Interment at Beechwood Cemetery.
