HARRIS, Lee Harris
February 10, 2026He departed this life on February 10, 2026, leaving to mourn are his beloved wife, Lynn, née Powell, and three loving daughters, Tanya Harris, Courtney Harris, and Lauren Harris Selby. Lee was a kind father-in-law to Jason Koskela and Cale Selby, and proud grandfather of Keira, Dexter, Gavin, Rennick, Kohen and Lachlan.
Lee was the loving son to the late Frank and Pearl Harris and dear brother to Bob and his wife, Marilyn of Canmore, Alberta, along with nieces Darcy and Erin Harris, and great-nephew and niece, Jake and Carmen Harris. Lee is survived by many cousins in Canada, the United States and Northern Ireland.
After the untimely death of Lee’s dear parents, he found a second loving home with the late Jim and Evelyn Anderson, with three newfound brothers, the late Roy and his wife, Betty; the late Dr. Ralph and his wife Barbara; and the late Ron and his wife Joy. He treasured their children and grandchildren.
Mr. Harris was a well-known and respected history teacher at Chatham Kent Secondary School for 33 years. He was an avid reader and amassed a library of hundreds of books. He gave away as many books as he kept and encouraged his grandchildren to develop a love of reading.
Lee was life-long Baltimore Orioles fan and enjoyed playing tennis, squash and racquetball himself. While in his youth, Lee was an accomplished fastball pitcher for Dover Centre. He enjoyed spending time with his cousins and many friends, always
making sure to amuse them with his “down on the farm” turns of phrase.
Lee and Lynn enjoyed 57 years of wonderful marriage. Together, they pursued their innate passion to travel the world and discover other cultures. Lee and Lynn raised three daughters on their family farm and often made vacation road trips exploring
historic monuments and battlefields. Of course, there was always a promise of a motel with a swimming pool at the end of the day.
Lee also served his community for many years as a volunteer with Meals on Wheels, Crime Stoppers, Dover Optimist Club, and as Treasurer of Dover Centre Church.
The most important of all his lessons, was Lee’s unfailing gentleness, kindness, compassion and hope. He truly embraced each new day, even to his last, with good humour and an eternal optimism.
