Man in suit with rose boutonniereHARTLEY, Gregory Charles HartleyΒ  – 69, of Ajax, died at Lakeridge Health Oshawa on July 26th, 2024.

After a time of brief illness, Greg passed away surrounded by his beloved family.

Born in Toronto at Mount Sinai Hospital on March 22nd, 1955 to John (Gord) Hartley and Odette Hartley (Ponsart). Greg grew up in East York alongside his brothers, Phil and John.

Greg’s family meant everything to him. He met the love of his life, Sandra Young, in 1967 and they married on June 9th, 1979.

They had two children – Christopher in 1981 and Erin in 1983.

He was an active and doting grandpa to Matthew, Nathanael, Lucas and Lily.

He had a fulfilling career as a linesman and later foreman at Toronto Hydro.

He took pride in being an active member of every community he became involved in, including serving as President of the Toronto Hydro Golf Association, President of his children’s school parent council, organizing Fun Fairs, helping with school plays, and coaching team sports, to name a few.

He was an avid golfer, a jack-of-all-trades, and a big Blue Jays fan. He was a self-taught guitarist, a passionate cook, and loved to build and repair things around the houses of all his family and friends. He was always willing to help those who needed it, even those he didn’t know. Once Greg put his mind to doing something, there was little that he didn’t do well. Greg is survived by his wife, Sandra, children, Chris (April) and Erin (Andrew), grandchildren,
Matthew, Nathan, Lucas and Lily, and brothers, Phil and John.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gord Hartley and Odette Amodeo.

Visitation and Celebration of Life will be held atΒ McEACHNIE FUNERAL HOMEΒ Β (28 Old Kingston Rd. Pickering Village, L1T 2Z7).
Details are as follows:Β  Visitation on Friday, August 2nd, 2024 from 3-5pm and 6-8pm on Saturday, August 3rd, 2024 from 10-11am Celebration of Life on Saturday, August 3rd, 2024 in the Chapel at 11am Casual attire welcomed – feel free to wear your favourite golf, Hawaiian or rock band shirt in honour of Greg.
