Von Hatten, Walter John – passed away Friday, August 1, 2025 at Woodstock Hospital with his brother by his side.
Walter had a few careers throughout his life, including mechanical draftsman and photographer.
Ham radio was his passion for many, many years. Later in life he taught himself to play the keyboard and was forever striving to create the “perfect” stir-fry.

After his wife (Joyce) passed away Walter sold the family home and moved into an apartment where he could be found walking the halls in winter and around the block during warmer months to keep himself in shape.
Walter did not have a very busy social life but he was known to attend functions in the apartment building, especially those that involved “cake”.

Predeceased by his beloved wife Joyce Elaine Von Hatten (née King) (2018), son Edwin Von Hatten (2007), father Leo Von Hatten, and mother Margaret Von Hatten (2005).
Survived by his son Michael Von Hatten and step-brother Christopher Potter.

A small Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, August 15, 2025 at Smith-LeRoy Funeral Home, 69 Wellington St. North, Woodstock.
Guests are welcome between 12:00 – 1:30 pm. Light refreshments will be provided. A private family burial to follow.
