HAYGARTH , Ruth Marjory Haygarth (née Hutton)
August 2, 1938 - August 16, 2025
With broken hearts, we announce the sudden and unexpected passing of our beloved Ruth Marjory Haygarth, at home on the morning of Saturday, August 16, 2025, in her 88th year.
Ruth was the cherished wife and soul mate of the late John (Jack) Haygarth. Together for 71 years and married for 65, Ruth and Jack were the embodiment of true love. Jack’s passing in April left an irreplaceable void, and we feel that Ruth truly died of a broken heart. There was no Ruth without Jack, and no Jack without Ruth.
Ruth was the proud and devoted mother of Cam (Annie) and Robin (Vince), and the heart of her family. Her love and closeness with her children was extraordinary. A mother, confidant, and best friend, Ruth’s bond with Cam and Robin was truly rare. She was a constant source of quiet strength and inspiration. Their daily conversations, time together and unwavering support for one another will forever be cherished.
A loving grandmother, Ruth was affectionately called “G” by her beloved grandchildren, Lucas and Ava. Ruth shared countless precious moments with them, shaping their lives with her love, wisdom, and joy. Ava inherited Ruth’s passion for shopping and getting her nails done, and Ruth found endless joy in sharing those moments with her. Lucas, “Lukie,” her handsome grandson, could do no wrong in her eyes, and she adored him with all her heart.
Ruth was born and raised in Hamilton. She was predeceased by her parents William (Bill) and Marjory, her sister-in-law Eileen, and brothers-in-law Arthur and Stewart. Ruth is lovingly remembered by her brother Bill (Helen), dear cousin Joyce, lifelong friend Irene, and many nieces and nephews.
Ruth graduated from Westdale High School and made her career at Bell Canada for 37 years. After retirement, she worked at Peoples and Contempora Jewelers. She and Jack loved to travel, cherishing many family trips and creating memories across the globe. Ruth loved spending time at the family cottages in Sauble Beach—places that always brought her peace and joy.
Ruth had a heart full of kindness, always putting others before herself and never judging anyone. She was humble, positive, and had a remarkable sense of humor. Stylish, elegant, and young at heart, she adored shopping for clothes, jewelry, and shoes. As radiant as her outer beauty was, her inner warmth and grace are what will be most remembered.
Musically talented, Ruth played the accordion as a child and the organ as an adult. She will be remembered for her class, her love of life, and her ability to make everyone feel special.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to Lily, whose loving care for both Jack and Ruth was a blessing. Their shared connection brought lighthearted moments and comfort.
Though Ruth and Jack are no longer with us, their love endures. The legacy of their partnership and the warmth they shared will never be forgotten. Ruth, you will always be adored, and your love will never fade.
