HEFFORD, Doug Hefford
July 14, 1936 - December 21, 2025
Passed away at Uxbridge Hospital on Sunday December 21st at the age of 89. As Doug and his brother-in-law Gord would say, he was older than dirt.
Loved and missed by his joined-at-the-hip wife Helen. Dad will always be loved and remembered by his daughter Sandy (Joe) and son Rick (Karen). Also missed dearly by the Hanna and Hefford extended families and so many cherished friends.
Doug was a retired Gray Coach Manager where he made many of those life-long friends. He enjoyed his summers on Little Marble Lake in Cloyne and winters in Destin, Florida. Just shooting the breeze with his cottage and snowbird friends with a stiff rye and ginger was a big source of joy. He enjoyed bowling and golfing where he was a member of Foxbridge for many years. Doug liked nothing better than a game of Euchre or 13, and was able to tell you exactly what you had for cards at the end of a euchre hand.
His last 14 months were excruciatingly painful. We thank the Blue Jays for their magnificent World Series run which gave him light in that darkness, and we hope he can push the Leafs from above for a Stanley Cup run.
We want to thank the Uxbridge, Markham and Kingston Hospitals for their wonderful care, along with Butternut Manor and his personal care team. Every one of you helped raise Dad’s spirits.
Donations can be made to any of those three hospitals or a charity of your choosing.
A ‘Celebration of Life’ will be held in July to celebrate what would have been Doug’s 90th Birthday. Details to follow. Cremation entrusted to Low and Low Funeral Home, Uxbridge, Ontario.
- Location: DURHAM REGION, ON
