ROBERTS, Helen Irva  –

September 11, 1936 – November 30, 2023

In loving memory of Helen Irva Roberts (née Stevenson); mother, wife, aunt, great-aunt who left us peacefully and quietly at the age of 87 to enter the eternal rest of God.

Known as Irva to family and Caribbean friends, Helen is survived by her husband of 61 years Godfrey, daughters Joanne and Diane, brother Murray, sisters-in-law Janet and Zinna, as well as cherished relatives and friends, too many to mention.

Helen was predeceased by her siblings Rosalind, Pauline and Hedley. Born in Grenada W.I., Helen completed her midwifery and nursing training in England where she married and had two daughters.

The family immigrated first to Montreal, then Toronto where she worked for many years as an RN at Providence Healthcare.

Compassionate and caring, Helen had a warm heart, an infectious smile, a ready laugh and a friendly greeting for everyone with whom she interacted.

Her life was strengthened by her faith in God, her family and all the wonderful people who were part of her life journey.

Our heartfelt gratitude goes to her caregivers at Chester Village and Michael Garron Hospital. Cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be held on December 16, 2023, 11:30 a.m., Calvary Church, 746 Pape Ave. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Christians Against Poverty, a cause dear to her.
