HENDERSON, Peter John – It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of Peter John Henderson on May 9, 2025, at the age of 79.
Beloved husband to Kathy, loving father to Jeff (Stacey), Kristin (late Mark Andersen), and Michael (Kelly Witham), and proud Pappa to Marlie, Leila, Jaxx, Drew, Evangeline, Scarlett, Claudia, Capri, Emma, Ethan, Isaac, and Georgia. Dear brother of Mark (Carol), Christine (David), Thom (Fiona), and John. Predeceased by his parents Russel and Barbara, and brother Michael.
Born in Preston, England, Peter arrived in Canada as an infant aboard the Queen Mary. His vivid memories of the journey and his childhood adventures revealed a lifelong spirit of adventure. He spent much of his youth in nature—camping, portaging, and working as a forest ranger and lifeguard.
A natural athlete, Peter excelled at swimming and martial arts, earning a black belt in judo before stepping away to focus on his young family. He began working in construction at 16 and rose to prominence as a general superintendent for major high-rise developers—earning the industry title of “High Rise King.”
A passionate conversationalist, Peter had a keen interest in politics and war history, always eager for deep discussion. While he expressed love in quiet ways, his actions spoke volumes—from coaching his son’s hockey team to helping build homes and mentoring his daughter with strength and accountability.
His tenderness was especially seen with his beloved dogs and “grand dogs,” whom he adored deeply. Despite enduring immense physical pain in his later years, Peter remained stoic, supportive, and present for his family.
In his final words, Peter said, “I just wanna know what’s next… If I can look down and see you guys, I wanna be remembered as a good man, a good provider, a good father, a good husband.” With a smile, he added, “I can see the dogs lining up.”
Peter is remembered for his integrity, grit, and unwavering loyalty to family. In honour of his wishes, no memorial service will be held. Donations may be made to the Hamilton Burlington SPCA in his memory.
