
It is with sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Scottie Ryan Hill, aged 50. Beloved husband of Corrine (Johnson), who shared seven beautiful years of marriage and twenty-five cherished years together. Devoted father to Hannah Adele Hill (Hawenaedas Thomas), Scottie Navan Hill, and Kateri Loni Hill. Loving grandfather to Violet and Cassius Patterson, River, and Willow Thomas.
Ryan is survived by parents Scottie C. Hill and Shirley M. Hill (Vyse), brothers Nolan and Howard Hill (Emmy), and sisters Jackie, Jill (Rob), Kristine (aka Kitty), Nickie, and Shyanna. Also remembered by his mother-in-law Sandra Thompson, and many extended family members.
He graduated from Cornwall Career College as a hardware technician and was deeply committed to his Kanienkehaka heritage. As Hiawatha’s subchief (Mohawk Turtle), he worked to revitalize traditional ways and strengthen his people. Ryan served as a Cultural Facilitator, ice/snow sculptor, carver, lacrosse enthusiast, Smoke dancer, singer, and background actor in “Mohawk Girls.” He operated Wood’s Edge, a carving and craft business in Malone, NY.
He will be resting at his parents’ home, 2144 Onondaga Road, Six Nations, after 6 p.m. on Monday, June 2, 2025. Funeral Service and Burial will be held at Onondaga Longhouse, Six Nations, Ontario, at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 4, 2025.
