HOMEWARD, Sebastian Homeward

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Sebastian Homeward, beloved husband, father, stepfather, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle and friend, who left us peacefully on January 25, 2026, at Lakeridge Health Bowmanville. Sebastian is pre-deceased by his parents May and Lionel; his siblings Sylvester, Wesley, Mikey, Titus and Peter. Sebastian will be deeply missed by his devoted wife Donna; his children Lisa, Natasha, Nigel, Theola, Cassandra and Tamara; step children Gabrielle and Michael; his cherished grandchildren Alaina, Liana, Serenity, Syriah and five others; great grandchildren Mya, Elijah, Milina, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Nathaniel and Keziah. Treasured brother of Julia and Lennox. He is also survived by many wonderful nephews and nieces and many dear friends who were like family.

Sebastian had a strong faith and unwavering belief in God. From 1999 until his retirement he was the minister at St. Frederic’s Cathedral. He was elevated to Bishop after his retirement. He was dedicated to his congregation and missed being their leader. Sebastian loved travelling and would often go to Trinidad with his brother Titus. He loved dancing, cooking, baking and visiting with his family. He had a shared passion for gardening with his wife; and even when he could no longer plant the vegetable garden, he would take credit for it. His warmth, generosity, and sense of humor touched everyone he met. Sebastian’s legacy lives on in the lives he shaped, the laughter he shared, and the love he gave so freely. He will never be forgotten.

Visitation will be held on Friday February 6, 2026 from 6 to 8pm at Northcutt Elliott Funeral Home, 53 Division Street, Bowmanville.

A celebration of Sebastian’s life will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Northcutt Elliott Funeral Home, 53 Division Street, Bowmanville with burial to follow at Bond Head Cemetery in Newcastle. Repast at Da Taste Jamaican Restaurant in Newcastle.
