It is with great sadness that we share the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle and great friend, Wacław Filip Homoncik on Thursday, May 15, 2025 at the age of 83.
He died peacefully in his sleep in his most favourite and comfortable place, at home. He was born in Poland in 1942 in Kamionka Wielka as the youngest of ten children to Józef and Zofia Homoncik. He originally came to Canada in 1972 before finally settling here in 1978 and starting a family.
He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years Maria (Potoniec), daughter Anna (Trevor), son Daniel (Nicole), proud dziadzia to Evangeline and Victoria, and his sisters Krystyna and Maria in Poland, along with his nieces in Canada, Zofia (Richard) and Kasia (Piotr).
Those who knew him best will tell you he was always kind and generous, and would always offer a helping hand while never expecting anything in return. He enjoyed polka music, working in the garage, and tending to his apple trees in the backyard. He loved gatherings, no matter whether with family or friends, and always wanted everyone around him to have a good time.
He will be remembered fondly and missed dearly by his family and many friends in Canada and Poland.
Visitation will be held on Thursday May 22, 2025 from 2:00-4:00 PM, and 6:00-8:00 PM with rosary prayer at 7pm at Armstrong Funeral Home (124 King St E, Oshawa).
