HORNBY, Lois A. Hornby

Passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at the St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital, on Thursday, November 20, 2025, in her 89th year.

Lois was the wife of the late Murray Hornby (2003), and partner and best friend of the late Eric M’Creadie (2024). Mother of Ken Hornby (Cyndi), Allan Hornby (Marlene), and the late Brian Hornby (2013). She was the grandmother of Rebecca, Christopher, Jessica, Jaime, Mark, Donald, and Alexander, and a great grandmother to 8. Sister of Arthur Blackledge (Isabel), and the late John Blackledge (2010). Sister-in-law of Sheila Blackledge and Judi Hornby. Also survived by daughters-in-law, Liz and Wanda, and her nieces, nephews, and their families.

Born in London, ON, April 11, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Eva (née Sanders) Blackledge. Lois was employed by Thomson newspapers, the St. Thomas Times-Journal from 1979-1995 as Accountant & Office Manager, and The Pembroke Observer from 1995-1999 as Publisher & General Manager. Following her retirement, she enjoyed her role as a Historical Interpreter with the Owen Sound Museum. Lois returned to St. Thomas in 2007.

Lois’ family will celebrate her life privately. In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place, and private interment will be made in the Leith United Church Cemetery, Leith, ON, at a later time.
