HORNE, Clayton Van Horne
January 10, 1934 - March 7, 2026He, beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and partner, passed away peacefully on March 7, 2026, at the age of 92. Born on January 10, 1934, Clayton was the son of William Van Horne and Elizabeth Cooper. He lived a life rich in love, laughter, and dedication to both his family and his community.
In his early years, Clayton proudly served his community as a volunteer firefighter and was an active member of the Lions Club, always willing to lend a helping hand and support those around him.
Clayton was a dedicated employee of Vale (formerly INCO), where he worked for over 35 years and became a respected and valued colleague.
Following his retirement, Clayton embraced the simple joys of life. He cherished time spent with family and enjoyed many hobbies including fishing, bird watching, gardening, playing cards, woodworking, and going for leisurely car rides—often simply enjoying the scenery and the company of those he loved. Clayton especially enjoyed when family, friends, and neighbours stopped by to visit; he always welcomed the company and loved sitting down for a good chat and sharing stories.
Clayton is lovingly remembered by his partner, Glenna McIntyre. He was predeceased by his wives, Lorna Tann and Betty Burnett.
He leaves behind a legacy of love through his children, Victor Van Horne and Janet Taylor (Dennis, predeceased). He will be dearly missed by his grandchildren Cindy Houle (Jason), Tammy Mutch (Leslie), and Crystal Taylor (Chris), and by his great-grandchildren Jonathon Houle, Jeremy Houle, Cameron Mutch, Cayden Boisvenue, and Carson Boisvenue. Clayton will also be fondly remembered by his step children Marie Lepage, Marilyn Goodine and Ronnie Sloss (predeceased) and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Clayton was predeceased by his siblings Bayward, Olive, Varley, Garfield, Beryl, Grant, and Gordie
Clayton’s warmth, humour, and unwavering love will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends, reminding us of the joys of life and the importance of family.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date to honour and celebrate Clayton’s life.
