HOULAHAN, Gary John Houlahan

Houlahan, Gary John- Passed away at Lambton Meadowview Villa, Petrolia, Ontario on Friday, December 5, 2025 at the age of 63, due to kidney failure. Gary suffered from mental illness his entire life, however this did not define him. He was a warm, thoughtful individual with a wonderful smile and a huge belly laugh. Gary found joy in the minutia of life. He was very intelligent with a great sense of humour and bantering with him was sure to bring a smile to your face. The Montreal and Windsor crowds loved their visits with their Uncle Gary, and his niece and nephews and entire family will miss him terribly. His strong Christian faith helped him endure the sufferings involved with his bi-polar condition. Gary was a long time member of St. Benedict’s Catholic Church in Sarnia, and he regularly prayed for family and friends. Beloved son of Ruth and Jack (2020). Brother of Mike (Stephanie), and Nancy (Andrew). Uncle of Megan (Mario), Matthew, Jeremy, Gregory, Stephen, and Michael. Great-Uncle of Rory. The family would like to thank the amazing staff at Bluewater Health Hospital in Sarnia and the Continuing Care area of the Charlotte Eleanor Englehart Hospital in Petrolia for their loving care of Gary. Special thanks to the exceptional staff at Lambton Meadowview Villa in Petrolia for their end of life care. It was truly appreciated by the family. Also, our heartfelt gratitude to our PSW, Randi, from Shine at Home, for her years of support. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Benedict’s Church, 1011 Oak Ave, Sarnia, on Monday, December 8, at 11:00 am followed by a funeral luncheon open to everyone in the church hall. Arrangements have been entrusted to Smith Funeral Home – McKenzie Blundy Chapel, Sarnia. Interment at Our Lady of Mercy Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy friends who wish, may send memorial donations to St. Vincent de Paul Society: www.ssvpsarnialambton.ca/donate
