Barbara Anderson Huget

1958 – November 24, 2024

Barbara Anderson Huget, aged 66, passed away suddenly on November 24, 2024, in Oakville, Ontario. She was predeceased by her parents, Lesley and Warren Huget, her brother Richard, and her ex-husband Uwe Meyer. She leaves behind her sister Deborah Sunter (nee Huget), nephews Daniel (Elena) and David (Mayu), and her niece Jessica (Mariom).

Born and raised in Ottawa, Barbara moved to Toronto to pursue her passion for the arts, earning a BFA in Theatre from York University. Her career spanned theatre, music, and the visual arts across the GTA and Southern Ontario. She held leadership roles with Blyth and Muskoka Festivals, Tapestry Opera, Gryphon Theatre, and the Ontario Arts Council, among others.

In the late 90s, Barbara transitioned to visual arts, studying drawing and painting at OCAD and in Florence, Italy. She later taught Arts Administration and Art History at Humber College while earning a Master’s in Education. Her recent roles included management for the Lowville Festival, Guelph JazzFest, and One Burlington.

Barbara was a loving, generous, and talented individual who will be deeply missed by family, friends, and the arts community. Donations in her memory can be made to the Humane Society.
