HUNT, Louise Hunt
December 18, 1927 - February 5, 2026
Died peacefully on Thursday, February 5th, surrounded by family, receiving the excellent care of Brucelea Haven Staff. She was 98. Born on the South Line of Brant on December 18, 1927, the eldest child of Michael and Loretta (nee Kroestch) Hundt. She will be sadly missed by nieces and nephews; Archbishop Peter Hundt of St. John’s, Newfoundland, Susan (Harry) White of Markdale, Francis (Janice) Hundt of Walkerton, Virginia (Philip) Kuntz of Hanover, David (Margot) Hundt of Walkerton, and Anne (Darrell) Rehkopf of Hanover. Dear great aunt to 14, and great-great aunt of 43 cherished nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by her brother and his wife, Gerard and Joan Hundt, and her sister Mary Ann Hunt.
Recently, on a snowy December afternoon, Louise enjoyed a lively 98th birthday party with many of her nieces and nephews and their families. She was always quick to ask about the little ones, or to bless another with a compliment, a word of appreciation, and a beautiful smile. She was always ‘very well’ and so thankful for God’s goodness and blessings.
Louise lived most of her life in Guelph, working first at St. Joseph’s Hospital, then as a secretary for an orthopedic surgeon, Dr. White. She enjoyed life to the fullest alongside her sister Mary Ann, travelling, volunteering with the Festival of Tree’s, and the downtown soup kitchen. She was also very involved in her church community at The Basilica of Our Lady Immaculate, Guelph, and the activities of the Catholic Women’s League. Hosting family visits and special excursions provided many fond memories, and the ‘aunties’ will never be forgotten.
Moving back to Hanover in 2020 to be close to family, she has been an inspiration of love and joy to our family and caregivers, who will long remember her kindness.
The Family would like to thank the staff of Brucelea Haven for their outstanding care, and for sharing their stories and encounters of Louise’s awe and appreciation of their service. We also express our thankfulness to The Village Retirement Community for the excellent care that Louise and Mary Ann received while living there.
