HUSKILSON, Joanne Irene Huskilson

June 28, 1941 - August 16, 2025
HUSKILSON, Joanne Irene Huskilson

Passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at Arbour Heights LTC, at the age of 84, surrounded by the love of her family.
Joanne once described herself as “a simple farm girl” from Lanark County. To those who knew her she was far from simple and was a woman ahead of her time.
She was born to Margaret Gibson and Ernest Park on June 28, 1941, and was raised with her siblings in Lammermoor, ON. She was an excellent student and finished top of her class at Perth Collegiate. She went on to study geography and education at Queen’s University, graduating in 1963.
Joanne was a passionate teacher who started her career at Sydenham High School, moved to Frontenac Secondary School and finished her 35-year career at Bayridge Secondary School. She also taught with Charlie in Borneo, Sarawak in the 1960’s with CUSO Canada, an experience which created lifelong friendships.
Joanne was a strong Christian. When she wasn’t teaching high school, she devoted herself to her church (Bay Park Baptist and Bethel). She taught Sunday School, lead Youth Groups, and many Bible Study groups within the church community. She was also passionate about volunteering and fundraising for charities. She helped at Hospice Kingston, the Ban Righ Centre at Queen’s, the Kingston Grandmother Connection, Help Lesotho and supported Camp Iawah over many years.
Joanne was lucky enough to meet and be married to two wonderful men. She was married to Charlie (Chas) Huskilson for 32 years, who predeceased her in 1994, and Ron Hotchkiss, her loving and devoted husband for 27 years.
She is survived by her beloved children Stefan Huskilson (Michelle) and Helena Huskilson (Dave Loken), grandchildren Chas, Ben, Nate and Marty, stepdaughters Megan and Caitlin Hotchkiss, sister Donna North, and brothers Bill (Pam) and Ernie (Frances) Park. She will be sadly missed by her nieces, nephews and extended family in Ontario as well as Nova Scotia, one of her favourite places to visit.
In keeping with Joanne’s wishes, a Celebration of her Life will be held at Bethel Church Kingston, 314 Johnson St., on Friday, August 29, 2025, at 1:00 pm, followed by a reception and visitation with her family at the church. A private family interment will be held at a later date.
For those wanting to continue Joanne’s great work, donations in her memory may be made to her two favourite charities Camp Iawah and Help Lesotho.
