IRVING, Sylvia Marion Irving

Passed away peacefully on December 21, 2025, at Kelowna General Hospital, at the age of 91. She is now reunited with her beloved husband, Robert “Bob” Irving, to whom she was married for 60 years.

Sylvia was born on June 25, 1934, in The Pas, Manitoba. She later grew up in Victoria, BC before moving with her parents to Merritt, BC, where she would build a life filled with love, family, and community. It was in Merritt that Sylvia met Bob, and together they raised their family. Sylvia had a deep love for her pugs (Buddah & Koko) and especially enjoyed taking them for walks, a simple joy that brought her great happiness.

In 2004, Sylvia and Bob moved to Kelowna, where they continued to enjoy life together. For more than 30 years, they spent their winters travelling south to Palm Springs, creating countless treasured memories. When those trips came to an end, they found new adventures on casino bus tours to Washington St. Sylvia also loved baking for her family and friends, with her raisin squares being a particular favourite. She took great pride in her flower garden, where carnations—her favourite—always held a special place.

Above all, Sylvia was a caring and selfless woman who consistently put others before herself. She will be lovingly remembered by her children Brett (Carol), Alan (Joan), Sharon, and Rosanne; her grandchildren Alisha, Nikki, and Michael; and her great-grandchild Rikki.

Sylvia will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her, and her kindness, warmth, and gentle spirit will live on in the hearts of her family forever.

Family and friends will each honour her in their own ways, as no formal service will be held.
