JAECQUES, Bertha Jaecques Obituary

JAECQUES, Bertha – Bertha died peacefully at the age of 97 on Thursday, October 15, 2015, with her son and daughter present at Bluewater Health, after falling at her apartment which she loved so much.

Bertha was predeceased by her loving husband Albert (June 10, 2001), who she was married to for 61 years and missed so much.

She is survived by her loving daughter Irene (Neil) Wigchert and son Ken (Michelle) Jaecques.

She is also survived by her six granddaughters and one grandson: Tammy Wigchert, Ron Wigchert, Beckkie (Chris) Pettit, Jennifer Jaecques, Melissa (Justin) White, Lisa Jaecques, and Christina Jaecques. She is also survived by several great grandchildren: Chelsee, Kierstynn, Ashleigh, Kayla, Wes, Samantha, Cori, Christopher, Michael, Jake, Emily, Evangeline, Luc, and Avery.

Bertha was the last of Henry and Emily Snauwaert’s children. She is predeceased by brothers Paul, George, Alfonse, and Camiel, and sisters Evona, Mary, and Irene. She was a dear aunt to several nieces and nephews. Bertha is survived by sisters-in-law Joyce Snauwaert, Margaret DePoorter, Dorothy Jaecques, brother-in-law Roger DePoorter, and Aunt Paula DeWulf. Bertha was a life member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Women’s League.

She was a 37 year survivor of cervical cancer.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 19 at Smith Funeral Home, 1576 London Line in Sarnia, Ontario with family and friends being received one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow.
