LEVIA, James Albert ‘Jim’ – Peacefully, in hospital on Sunday, December 20, 2015 at the age of 87 years.

Beloved husband of Millie. Loving father of Russell, Catherine Lowthian (Dave) and the late Thomas. Dear Papa of Aimee and Bobby. Survived by his sister Joan Wells of Florida.

A fine husband and father – he will be sorely missed by his family.

Jim was a proud union leader and defender of workers’ rights from the 1950’s through the 1980’s. He worked his way up to the position of National Vice-President, representing railway, seaway and hospitality labourers across Canada from his offices in Ottawa and Montreal.

A fine sportsman and athlete – Jim was an avid pigeon fancier and accomplished badminton player.

The family would like to thank his nurses and the staff at St. Vincent’s Hospital for their excellent and compassionate care.

The family will receive family & friends at McEvoy-Shields Funeral Home, 1411 Hunt Club Road, Ottawa on Monday, December 28th after 9:30 am ,followed by a Funeral Service in the Chapel at 11 am. Spring interment.

In memoriam donations to the Ottawa Hospital Foundation- Cancer Clinic would be appreciated.
