MAYHEW, James “Jim”  –  We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of James ‘Jim’ Mayhew, in his 80th year, on Sunday, July 9, 2023, surrounded by his loving family, after a brief stay at VGH.

Jim led with his heart.

His advice, wisdom, and sincere kindness and caring benefited countless souls, from corporate CEOs to his adoring grandchildren.

Jim leaves behind his wife and love of 58 years, Joan; son, Ken (Suzanne, Kate, Lia); son, Brian (Sharon, Benjamin, Christopher); daughter, Cathy (Darren, Jaime, Alyssa); son, Keith (Dore, Owen, Ethan and Erik); and his brother, Bob and his family.

A celebration of life is being planned for later this summer.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the institution that gave Jim more than two decades of extended life – VGH and UBC Hospital Foundation, with particular gratitude for the excellent care of Dr. Thomas Nevill and Dr. Carolyn Icton, his family doctor.

Jim led a life well lived and well loved.
