SMITH, James “Jim” Donald   –

June 14, 1933 – April 24, 2023

Jim passed away peacefully, with family at his side. He was born in Collingwood, ON.

His beloved wife, Ruth Baker, predeceased him in 2014.

He leaves behind his stepdaughter, Patsy-Ann Baker-Dean, his son-in-law, Jesse Dean; and his daughter, Carol Ann Kranyak (Rick).

Jim always said he had lived a good life. He worked as a supervisor at Kodak Canada for 25 years and retired early in 1983.

He and Ruth celebrated their winters in Florida for many years. They loved to travel and went on many trips.

He was an avid golfer and enjoyed curling. Jim was a volunteer at the Mississauga Hospital for over 10 years. He was an active and longtime resident at 820 Burnhamthorpe Road, where he served on the Board several times and made many friends.

Heartfelt thanks to all the staff at Bough Beeches Place, who gave him good and cheerful care.

A Celebration of Jim’s Life will take place at 1130 Bough Beeches, on May 11th, from 1:30 until 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Mississauga Hospital, TVO or to a Charity of Your Choice would be most appreciated.
