Luningning De Jesus (or Nanay Luning, as she is affectionately known) lived a full life before peacefully passing away due to health complications. Her 89 years of life was marked with determination, integrity, and unconditional love for her family and friends.

Lunigning was born on August 18, 1936 in Malabon, Philippines. As the eldest daughter, she took pride in caring for her siblings and later raising four children through decades of sacrifice, wits, and relentless hard work. She first visited Vancouver, Canada in 2002, later settling and spending her final decades calling two countries ‘home’.

Many know Lunigning as a motherly figure, a friend, or an active member of the Catholic church. But she was also once a businesswoman, a fashion student, a gardener, a crocheter, an avid reader, and a winner of beauty pageants in her youth. Through her final hours, her sharp mind and strength of character never wavered.

Lunigning is dearly remembered by her children, grandchildren, siblings, and countless family and friends across the Philippines and Canada.

Whenever you miss Lunigning, remember her not for the way her life ended—but for the way it was lived and the love she has left behind.
