AVIS, John Robert Avis  – 

1940 – 2023.

Peacefully at Billings Court Manor on October 26, 2023.

Predeceased by parents, Susannah (Boone) and Fredrick Avis; and sister, Mary (Bob) Guy.

Survived by Susan Prendergast, his wife of 44 years. Brother Bill (Francoise) Avis and sister Barbara Boone.

Beloved brother-in-law of Martha and Mark Welch. Proud uncle of Lindsay Welch. His career and hobbies are not what made John the man he was.

His kind heart, generosity and wonderful sense of humour are what made him so special.

John lived, not survived, the last five months of his life with grace, dignity, humour and gratitude.

Thank you to the nurses, PSWs and staff of 5 North at Joseph Brant Hospital and the Ansley wing at Billings Court Manor. You brought empathy and laughter to each new day.

John leaves behind a void that cannot be filled. He will be greatly missed by those whose lives he touched.

A huge thank you to family and friends for their love and support.
