COUGHLAN, John – Passed away at the Salvation Army Ottawa Grace Manor on Wednesday, December 23, 2015, at the age of 88.
He leaves behind his loving wife of 63 years, Hazel (nee Wilson). Cherished father of Richard Coughlan (Louise) and Wendy Hunt (Brian).
Treasured grandfather to Kristen Anderson (Craig), Alex Hunt, Tara Campbell (Josh), Robert Hunt and Ashley Coughlan. Proud great-grandfather to Eadey Anderson and Reese Campbell.
John is survived by his siblings Maureen Kaposy, Leonard Coughlan (Anne Marie), Carol Campbell, Kitty Bramwell (Cyril), Dennis Coughlan (Janice), and was predeceased by his siblings Margaret Coughlan, Kathleen Coughlan, Charles Coughlan (Virginia), Pat Britti, Dorothy Walton (William), Mike Coughlan (Mary) and Peter Coughlan.
Predeceased by brothers-in-law EmeryKaposy and Charles Campbell.
John is also survived by his brothers-in-law Lawrence Wilson, Morton Wilson (Ethel), James Wilson (Edna) and sisters-in-law Rosalie Burns, Dorothy Wilson and Ailean Wilson.
He proudly served in the Royal Canadian Navy on HMS Warrior (Royal Navy), HMCS Magnificent and HMCS Bonaventure with the 880 Tracker Air Squadron stationed at CFB Shearwater, Nova Scotia.
John’s first career was in the Navy where he served for 24 years, followed by 24 years as a Civil Servant for the Federal Government, for a total of 48 years of public service.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 30th at the Pinecrest Visitation Centre, 2500 Baseline Road, Ottawa, Ontario from 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.
The Service for John will be held on Thursday, December 31st at10:00 a.m. at Queen of the Most Holy Rosary Parish, 20 Grant Street, Ottawa, Ontario. Reception to follow.
