McBRIDE, John William McBride
October 28, 1947 - January 3, 2024
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of John William McBride on January 3, 2024.Born October 28, 1947, to Maureen and Jack, John lived his young life in Toronto with his three siblings, Mary, Cathie and Michael, along with extended family and friends nearby.
After attending St. Michael’s School, John went on to meet the love of his life in Therese McClorey. In 1972, they married and soon welcomed their sons, Chris (Susie) and Dave (Rebecca).
Moving to Scarborough came next, where they put down roots in the Wexford area and welcomed Sarah.
John was lovingly called “Pops” to those closest to him and when he became a grandfather to Ryen, Bryana and Adele, it took on an extra special meaning to him, far greater than he ever imagined possible. John may have appeared to be quiet in nature, but he had a wonderful sense of humor.
He was generous, loyal, and full of life. He was clever and full to the brim with knowledge gained through all his life experiences. His love for music led him to start his lengthy career in the industry.
His time at Sam the Record Man, then Sunrise Records would allow him to meet and work with some incredibly talented people who became dear friends. Upon retirement, John used his passion and joy for golf by finding work at Meadowbrook Golf Club.
Being around the course, and the comradery of its members meant the world to this gentle man. He will be remembered for his big heart that he shared with his friends and family. He absolutely loved each of them.
When the final battle came, he carried himself with strength, dignity and full of love for his family. He will be greatly missed.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 9, 2024, from 6-8 p.m. at McDougall & Brown Funeral Home, 2900 Kingston Rd. (just east of St. Clair Ave. E.), Scarborough. Funeral Service on Wednesday, January 10, 2024, at 2 p.m. in the chapel.
