JOHNSON, Harold Johnson July 31, 1931 - April 14, 2025
JOHNSON, Harold Johnson

Harold Johnson, husband, father, grandfather, baseball player, coach, salesman, and eternally hopeful human passed peacefully on a warm evening on April 14th at the age of 93, after a lengthy battle with throat cancer. Harold handled his life-limiting diagnosis and treatments with grace and perseverance.

Born in Philadelphia on July 31, 1931, Harold was raised by his single mother, Ida-Mae. Growing up with few material possessions, he began working early to support his family while nurturing a lifelong love of baseball.

He met his true love, Moyra Eagar, and built a fulfilling family life. Harold cherished his role as a grandfather, lovingly known as “Hucca,” and found great joy in coaching youth baseball during the 1970s in Toronto.

Later in life, he took up golf and built new friendships. In his honour, Burlington Springs Golf Club lowered their flag to half-staff upon his passing. Harold was proud to become a Canadian citizen and remained positive and grateful throughout his life, even during hospitalization.

Harold loved his dogs Casey, Casey (2), and Molly, and relished quiet afternoons watching Blue Jays games. His insightful play-by-play comments revealed his deep understanding of the game.

Harold is survived by his wife Moyra, son Harold (Joanne), daughter Lynn (Bruce), grandchildren Aimee (Osahon), Emily (Andrew), and Sierra (Corey), and great-granddaughter Osayuki. He was predeceased by his grandson Daniel.

A gathering is planned for later this summer to celebrate Harold’s long, well-lived life.
